Volunteer

Read AloudVolunteers are always needed to continue our program. Volunteers read aloud to children one-on-one in childcare centers, Head Starts, shelters, and clinics. All volunteers who are 18 years of age or older must undergo a fingerprinted criminal background check.  Students volunteers must be 16 years old to read on their own.  Children ages 8-15 may volunteer if accompanied by an adult.

Click on RAD Sites to learn more about where you can volunteer.  Under RAD Sites you can select the county you wish to read in and click on the county name to access site names and hours.

Volunteers are also needed for office work, committee work and various projects we have throughout the year. If this program sounds like a match for you, click on one of the links below to fill out our online application or print out our application form and return it to your county address (listed on the application).

If you wish to volunteer in New Castle County during the summer, please submit your application by May 1.
